By installing or using the LUMI Shopify app, you ("Merchant") agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use LUMI.
1. About LUMI
LUMI is an AI-powered chat widget application for Shopify stores, operated by LUMI (use-lumi.com). LUMI enables merchants to add a conversational AI assistant to their online store that helps shoppers discover products, get answers to questions, and complete purchases.
2. Eligibility and Account
To use LUMI, you must:
- Have an active Shopify store
- Be at least 18 years old or have legal authority to enter into contracts
- Provide accurate and complete information when setting up your account
- Comply with Shopify's Terms of Service
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Shopify account and any API tokens you provide to LUMI. Notify us immediately at support@use-lumi.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
3. Subscription Plans and Billing
LUMI offers the following subscription plans, billed monthly through Shopify:

A "conversation" is defined as a single chat session between one shopper and the LUMI widget. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify through their standard app billing system. By subscribing to a plan, you authorize Shopify to charge the applicable fees to your account.
Overage charges are billed at the end of each billing cycle. We will send you email notifications when you reach 80% and 100% of your plan's conversation limit.
4. Free Trial
LUMI may offer a free trial period. During the free trial, you have full access to the selected plan's features. At the end of the trial, billing begins automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends. No charges are applied during the trial period.
5. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your LUMI subscription at any time through your Shopify admin panel. Upon cancellation:
- Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period
- No refunds are issued for partial billing periods
- Your data will be retained for 90 days after cancellation, after which it will be deleted
- You may re-subscribe at any time to restore access
Refund requests for exceptional circumstances (e.g., technical failures on our end causing significant service unavailability) may be submitted to support@use-lumi.com and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use LUMI only for lawful purposes. You must not use LUMI to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Sell illegal products or services
- Deceive or mislead your customers through the chat interface
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or otherwise tamper with LUMI's systems
- Scrape data from LUMI's systems beyond normal app usage
- Resell or sublicense access to LUMI without written permission
- Use LUMI in ways that violate Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
7. AI-Generated Content
LUMI uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate chat responses. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated responses may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate
- You are responsible for reviewing and ensuring the AI's behavior is appropriate for your store
- LUMI is not liable for any harm resulting from AI-generated content shown to your customers
- You should provide accurate store policies and product information to improve AI response quality
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of LUMI is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You are responsible for ensuring your use of LUMI complies with applicable privacy laws (including GDPR and CCPA) as they apply to your business and your customers.
You grant LUMI a limited license to collect, process, and store data from your store solely for the purpose of providing the LUMI service to you.
9. Intellectual Property
LUMI and all associated software, designs, trademarks, and content are the intellectual property of LUMI and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the LUMI app on your Shopify store.
You retain ownership of all content you provide to LUMI (including store policies, customization settings, and product data). By providing this content, you grant LUMI permission to use it solely to deliver the service.
10. Availability and Service Level
We strive to maintain high availability for the LUMI service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible. LUMI is not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions or downtime.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the LUMI service at any time with reasonable notice. In the case of service discontinuation, we will provide at least 30 days' notice.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- LUMI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
- LUMI's total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the fees you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim
- LUMI is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or revenue
- LUMI is not responsible for actions or decisions made by your customers based on AI-generated chat responses
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold LUMI harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of LUMI; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights; or (d) content you provide to LUMI.
13. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via email to the address associated with your account. Your continued use of LUMI after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with changes, you may cancel your subscription.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Israel, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Israel.
